Dont Rush Gas Into Aboadze Plant Wereko-Brobby

A former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr. Wereko-Brobby has advised management of the Aboadze Thermal Plant to gradually introduce the gas into the facility to avoid any technical hitches. Ghanas power sector has major challenges, especially because of huge generation problems. The Aboadze Thermal Plant which will receive its first gas from Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is expected to add about 330 megawatts of power to the national electricity grid. This follows after two weeks of testing the plant. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said, Its extremely important. I just hope we do not rush the Aboadze thing; its a fantastic thing that we are able to give gas. He further observed that theoretically, Takoradi I think can have as much a 1,000 megawatts of capacity if its all working so it is a major boost and eventually may give us a lot more option but again we shouldnt look to it as the end of the matter. In a related development, the president has created the power ministry headed by Dr. Kwabena Donkor. The new ministry aimed at restructuring the power sector to ensure more stability and security of power.
