Billboard Poses Danger To SUSEC Students

A giant billboard belonging to J.A. Quarry Limited, located in front of Sunyani Senior High School (Susec) in the Brong Ahafo Regional capital, is posing danger to students of the school. An observation made by The Finder reveals that the metals holding the billboard are rusted and could collapse anytime there is a storm. What is worrying is that most of the students from Sunyani Senior High School (Susec) and its model school alight close to the rusted billboard and also stand there to pick vehicles to their various destinations after closing from school. Apart from the students who stand close to the billboard, other residents of the municipality also stand there to pick vehicles. Several complaints lodged with the Sunyani Municipal Assembly (SMA) to check and order J.A. Quarry Limited to remove the billboard has not yielded any result two months after the complaint was made known to the assembly. Charles Obeng, who has his child at Susec Model Basic School, is calling on the assembly to, as a matter of urgency, order the owners of the billboard to remove it. We cant wait for a disaster to happen before a committee is set up to investigate; the assembly must be up and doing. As you can see, teachers and pupils all alight here and its very dangerous; disaster is in the offing if nothing is done urgently to bring this billboard down, he noted. The Public Relations Officer of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly (SMA), Vincent Kofi Owusu, said the report have been forwarded to the Engineering Department of the assembly to do something about the situation. Efforts to reach J.A. Quarry Limited, who are located at Wenchi, have proven futile as the contact numbers on the billboard are not working.
