Revealed! How Eastern NDC Executives Rigged Elections2 Ministers Fingered

Barely two weeks after Bismark Tawiah-Boateng, a former Eastern Regional Organiser of National Democratic Congress (NDC) was elected the new Regional Chairman of the party, startling details are emerging that his closest contender, John Owusu Amankwa, popularly known as, Joak, who polled 106 votes fell victim to what has now been christened Effigyase Mafia conspiracy. A twenty-seven minutes, ten seconds (27:10) audio tape intercepted by this paper yesterday revealed how John Owusu Amankwas arms were twisted to rob him of victory to the now Chairman Tawiah-Boateng. On the tape, voices of three different people whom this paper has identified as executive members of the part (names withheld) were heard discussing how the regional election was rigged to favour the Effigyase born- Bismark Tawiah- Boateng against the peoples choice, John Owusu Amankwa. We have gone for regional elections one voice said. Ei, so they didnt vote for Joak? Another voice asked. No, they rigged it, I was in charge of distributing virtually everything from Joak to the delegate and I can tell you that from the National report, Joak won by 195 votes but it was quickly overturned in favour of Tawia Boateng and now National is begging him (Joak) to forget all that happened, the earlier voice retorted. It therefore came as no surprised to the Eastern regional NDC when, after the contest, Mr Tawiah Boateng said some of the contestants would not be happy with the outcome of some of the results and called on all to put the past behind them and unite. The voices on the audio tape alleged that it was after the figures had been massaged that Tawiah Boateng polled 129 votes to beat his competitors to win the position at the regional conference of the party which was organized at Adoagyiri, near Nsawam. In the end, Samuel Kweku Agyei was elected Vice Chairman, Mark Olive Kevor, Secretary, Abudu Sampson Pata, Treasurer and Ransford Owusu Boakye, Organiser. Other executives elected included, Francis Annor-Dompreh, Deputy Secretary, Appaw Haruna Wiredu, Youth Organiser, Baba Jamal, Propaganda Secretary and Emmanuel Mintah, Deputy Treasurer. The region has 33 constituencies out of which the NDC occupies only seven seats and in the 2012 election, the party secured 43 per cent of the presidential votes as against the NPPs 56 per cent. Accusing fingers are however being pointed at the Communications Minister, Omane Boamah, Antwi Boasiako, and some powers-that -be as the architects who masterminded Joaks lose. Stay Tuned
