Why Is Nobody Praising Gov't For Reducing Gas Levy By 9.8%? - Fred Agbenyo Asks

NDC Communicator, Fred Agbenyo has asked critics of President John Mahama to be grateful to his administration for the 2015 budget statement. Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Fred Agbenyo expressed disappointment in the criticisms about 2015 budget, particularly issues regarding the Special tax on petroleum products. Notwithstanding the 17.5 percent petroleum tax declared by the Finance Minister Seth Tekper on the Parliament House, Fred Agbenyo believed the new tax is one of government's interventions to stabilize the economy. According to him, criticisms about the government pertaining to the budget have become one-sided since the government also stated in the budget other vital issues it will tackle to improve the economy. Fred Agbenyo, who is aspiring for the position of Deputy National Propaganda Secretary, added that the government has reduced taxes on gas so as to lessen the burden on consumers and therefore, implored the citizenry to credit the government for its good works. The government says the gas that we are all using and deriving benefits from it, we should reduce it by 9.8 percent. But it seems nobody has heard about that yet; nobody has seen it yet. Nobody is commending the government that it has done well by sharing the concerns of Ghanaians, he said. He also added that in order to boost the industrial sector, the government did not introduce any new tax. Also, the Mahama government has lifted talk tax in order to reduce the cost involved in making calls, he further stressed that these are some tremendous initiatives by government to relieve Ghanaians of the economic pressures.
