Students of Sefwi-Wiawso College of Education have threatened to rain fire and brim stone on this year�s National Farmers' Day planned to be celebrated on the school�s campus if government does not step in to resolve the confusion surrounding allowance arrears in the school. According to the a delegation from the school who came to the offices of Peace FM in Accra, plans are far advanced to embarrass the Principal of the of the College, Mrs. Georgina Lartey and by extension, the President on the 5th of December, 2014 if their nine (9) month arrears are not paid in full, before the celebrations of the Farmers� Day. �..we are amazed at the fact that there are 38 teacher raining institutions in the country but out of the number, only one school has not received it allowances for the past nine months. Our checks at the Controller And Accountant General�s Department have revealed that the allowances to the western region has been disbursed already but a print of the document does not show the bank into which the money was sent. �The most astonishing part of this saga is, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is the District where the money was sent to, according to the document from the AG�s Department. All we want is for President Mahama to expedite action by investigating and unlocking our money wherever it is being held up,� the leader of the group said. They also recounted occasions where they have had to walk long distances to Out Programs in various parts of the district on empty stomach because of the fact that they have no money. �..this have to stop. We believe our money is in someone�s pocket. The authorities will have to do something about it because the students are ready to riot on the Farmers' Day,� they maintained. With this threat of destruction, this year�s edition of the National framers� Day to honor farmers of the land, could end up in disgrace and dishonor but the students are of the conviction this would depend on how quickly the government can move in to resolve the situation.
