The Vodafone Ghana Foundation, has embarked on series of training sessions for facilitators and students of the New Horizon Special School at Dzorwulu in Accra. This forms part of Vodafone�s Employee Volunteerism Programme which enables employees to positively contribute and address social issues in their communities that require intervention. Students of the school who have intellectual disabilities such as spastic, cerebral palsy and autism, were taught daily for two weeks on how to use the internet to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and connect with their friends and family through social media. Vodafone Employees, Elfreda Nartey and Maame Gyamfuah Owusu Manu, who volunteered their expertise, also taught them how to develop a website to enable them showcase and commercialize their vocational skills end product . This was done with the support of an IT consultant William Odartey. �The Employee Volunteerism programme was introduced by the Vodafone Ghana Foundation to empower our employees with the resources to support their communities by doing something they feel passionate about. We are proud that we have impacted the lives of the pupils in this special school� said Nana Yaa Ofori Koree, Foundation and Sustainability Manager at Vodafone Ghana. Head Mistress of the School, Mrs Salome Francois, expressed her gratitude to the Vodafone employees for their dedication and service to the students of the school.
