Ms Delores Sekyere, Director of Ghana Prime Properties, on Friday urged government to speed up the passage of the Real Estate Regulatory Bill to help sanitise the industry. She said the real estate industry in Ghana was evolving at a very fast rate, hence the need to have a law in place to regulate the activities of operators. She said because there was no law in place, anyone could put up anything and price it anyhow, which might go a long way to affect the consumer. Ms Sekyere made the appeal in Accra in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of a real estate conference, organised by Lamudi Ghana, global real estate giant in collaboration with MTN on the theme: �The Future of Real Estate in Emerging Markets�. She said such a law should regulate the real estate brokerage practice and practitioners, real estate transactions and prevent such transactions for purposes of money laundering and other vices. On the impact of technology on Ghana�s real estate industry, Ms Sekyere said technology had helped the industry a great deal, and that �these days, you have reliable online marketplaces where the client can go to rent or sell their properties successfully, and the consumer has more options right there in real time�.
