Kenu To Resume Work Tomorrow

The Board Chair of Graphic Communications Group, Dr. Doris Yaa Dartey has disclosed that the companys Ashanti Regional editor, Daniel Kenu will resume work on Monday, December 1, 2014. Dr. Dartey made this known in an interview on Radio Ghanas behind the news programme on Thursday. She said the board reinstated Kenu because they believe his dismissal was wrong and management did not inform them before taking the decision. Daniel Kenu went to court with the full backing of Graphic when he was allegedly assaulted by a group of men, led by Baffour Gyan, elder brother of Asamoah Gyan. He later withdrew the case citing health and family issues, although the Managing Director (MD) of Graphic, Ken Ashigbey had vowed to pursue the matter till the perpetrators were punished. Graphic subsequently dismissed Kenu accusing him of gross misconduct and disloyalty, but the Board on Thursday directed the MD to reinstate him. Meanwhile, workers at Graphic say they are elated over the reinstatement of their colleague. Speaking to Citi News, Vice Chairman of the Workers Union at Graphic, William Asheley said the Board of Graphic has done the right thing. He said: We are generally happy as workers of graphic that Kenu is reinstated. It was like rumours all around that he has been reinstated but now we are aware that he is really been reinstated so hes joined the Graphic family again. Since he received the dismissal letter, we were particularly very sad in the wake of that letter and then we made moves to get that matter resolved we were using the internal processes to get him back and as a result of some of these internal processes we have received a letter communicated to us that he has been reinstated. Graphic staff had earlier threatened to strike and also have the MD removed because they believe he masterminded the Kanus dismissal. The Gyan brothers have also pleaded for forgiveness from Kenu and Graphic.
