Energy and Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has called on personalities in the entertainment industry to use their fame to educate Ghanaians on effective energy conservation practices to curb pressure on the national grid. He said whiles demand for electricity is increasing rapidly due to population growth, economic expansion and government�s quest to join more communities to the national grid, 30% of the electricity generated also go waste because of nonconformity to energy conservation guidelines. He asked that they use their platforms to inform their teeming followers on the advantages of conserving energy by switching off unused appliances and gadgets. Touching on some efforts by government to address challenges in the energy sector, Hon Buah noted that ensuring Ministries, Department and Agencies as well as public Senior High Schools and Tertiary institutions pay for the electricity they use to cut down loses to the state. �Gas has for the first time begun to flow on commissioning basis from our own gas infrastructure project in Atuabo to reduce Ghana�s dependence on gas from the West African Gas Pipeline�. Kalybos of Ahuofe Patri fame and Ex Doe, a popular musician who were at the program expressed their excitement at the recognition given them by the Ministry and promised to encourage other celebrities to join the crusade to ensure that as many Ghanaians as possible conserve energy.
