DPS Makes Ghana Proud At World Scholars CupScoops 5 Medals

Five students from the Dehli Public School (DPS) in Tema made Ghana proud when they won five medals at the World Scholars Cup held at the Yale University in the United States of America. The event which takes place every year, affords participating students the opportunity to debate on variety of topics ranging from Science, Psychology, History, Literature, Social Studies and Other disciplines. It aims to motivate students of all backgrounds to discover new strengths and practice new skills and also inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders. The students from the DPS Tema, Clarence Kojo Mensah, Vishal Mukesh Thakwani, Kapila Kommareddy, and Wilma Ama Obenewaa took part in the event which also brought together participating students from across the world to speak on the theme, The World Within. Participants spoke on sub topics such as the Science of Decision-making, The History of Espionage, Echoes of The Interior and Worlds Within Walls. Though students from DSP Ghana were supposed to be passive participants because it was their first time, they stunned the audience when they won five medals after the rigorous debate on the topics. we didnt have much time to prepare and moreover some of the topics were new to us and that was a challenge, but we studied hard and it paid off after the competition, 15 year old Clarence Mensah indicated. Principal of DPS Ghana established at Tema in 2010, David Raj says the school took advantage of the programme when it realized its objectives were in line with DPS drive to prepare students with great public speaking skills. He indicated that the school is currently preparing 18 students for next years event to take place in Malaysia next year. I can tell you that since our students returned from the Yale University, their vocabulary has changed, their attitude to studying has also changed and now there is greater competition among the students for next years competition, he said.
