The General Secretary of the People�s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has said his party needs a united front to become relevant in the fourth republican dispensation. In line with this, he has stressed the need for all hands on deck and unity of purpose among the rank and file of the party. Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr Mornah bemoaned the lack of unity and divisiveness among party ranks. �Such tendencies will not bode well for the party to make any impact in the 2016 election,� he said. It was his view that some members of the party were in open support of other political interests as against the interest of the PNC. ��Party members must stop the open support for other presidential candidates and seek the interest of PNC at all times,� he said. He said the PNC suffered a bad faith during the 2012 election because some members of the party openly supported either the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Grass-roots mobilisation According to Mr Mornah, the PNC is currently holding broad consultation at the grass-roots level with the view to holding polling station elections in the first quarter of 2015. He said the second quarter of next year would be used to organise the regional elections immediately the polling station elections were completed. Mr Mornah said the National Delegates Congress has been slated for the third quarter of the year by which time both the polling station and regional executive would have been elected and sworn in. Mr Mornah said even though the PNC was planning its internal election, it was still committed to the unity talks with the Convention People�s Party (CPP ) to make the Nkrumaist party that had been split into small groups relevant in the political dispensation of the country, as well as a force to reckon with in the 2016 elections. The party has, therefore, given an assurance that it will not relent in its aim to provide Ghanaians with the alternative government to that of the NDC. In line with this, the PNC is preparing towards electing officers right from the polling station, through to constituency, regional and national levels next year. This will culminate in the presidential primary to elect the party�s flag bearer for the 2016 polls.
