Opposition Parties Must Support Mahama Abodakpi

Former Trade Minister and Ambassador to Malaysia in the erstwhile Rawlings regime is calling for a more inclusive approached to governance to help government out of its present challenges. Ambassador Dan Abodakpi is convinced he adoption of an all hands come on deck approached devoid of political coloration will help solve the socio-economic challenges confronting the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC). The former Member of Parliament for Keta who disclosed this on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, bemoaned the winner-takes-all political system in the country. We need to have a Ghana incorporated approach irrespective of political parties in government in order to have a hand-on solution to these problems. Dan Abodakpi could not fathom why successive governments govern based on their party manifestos without recourse to a national development. In his view, that status quo which has worsened under the Fourth Republic has been the bane to Ghanas development. Our political leaders lack the will to ensure that the need for a certain consensus on dealing with the challenges of developing of this country". The aspiring National Chairman of the NDC promised if voted into office to facilitate a meeting between President Mahama and opposition parties to ensure the Ghana incorporated approached is achieved. Dan Abodakpi underscored the need for an enactment of a law that will compel political parties to align their manifestos to a national development plan The development agenda of Ghana must supersede any agenda of political parties [therefore] political parties must pursue the national interest he stressed.
