For the Chairmanship position, Kofi Portuphy, Mr Dan Abodakpi, a former minister of state and diplomat, and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, a former secretary, former General Secretary of the party and incumbent Vice-Chairman of the party, will be attempting to snatch the position from the incumbent, Kwabena Adjei. Abdullah Ishaq Farrakhan of the Obuasi Constituency office of the NDC will be contesting the incumbent Johnson Asiedu Nketia for the General Secretary position while the position of Deputy General Secretary will be keenly contested by the incumbent, Mr George Lawson; Mr Kwadjo Adu Asare, the immediate past MP for Adenta and presidential staffer, Mr Koku Anyidoho, the Communications Director at the Presidency in the era of President J.E.A. Mills, Wisdom Kwame Amaglo, J.R.D. Cobbina and Evans Armoo. Contributing to a panel discussion and speaking to the issue on PEACE FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kweku Baako said he will be surprised if Kwabena Adjei maintains his position as the chairman of the NDC. "Looking through his lenses, he told Kwami Sefa Kayi host of the show that "I will be very surprised if he winsit looks like Portuphy is likely to win based on the things I am hearing and from where I am standing."
