Stop Needless Attacks And Insults On Ivor Greenstreet

I have noted with grave concern, the scathing attacks and insults from the NDC government on the person of Mr. Ivor Greenstreet, General Secretary of the CPP over his blunt solidarity message at the just ended NDC congress in Kumasi. Although this NDC government under Mahma has shown a penchant for raining insults and attacks on their critics, the direction of attack they chose in Mr. Ivor Greenstreet's case was most repugnant and irresponsible. For Sam George Nettey, Communications consultant to the President to say Mr. Greenstreet, a man who moves in a wheel chair needs 'elevation' to see the NDC's better Ghana Agenda is most reckless and irresponsible. It is a huge spite on Persons living with Disability and deserves condemnation from all. It takes a more serious turn when there are laws in our country that frown on derogatory descriptions directed at Persons living with disability. The PERSONS WITH DISABILITY ACT, 2006 ACT 175, 37(1) says 'A person shall not call a person with disability derogatory names because of the disability of the person'. The comments by Sam George Nettey amount to a flagrant disregard for our laws and a dent on our efforts to provide the deserved protection for our brethren who contend with various forms of physical challenges. Indeed, if the NDC's better Ghana Agenda is so faraway that persons with disability cannot see unless they are elevated, it goes to confirm that, the supposed 'Better Ghana' has become a mirage seen by only apologists of this government who are feeding fat on the toil of the ordinary Ghanaian. We are well aware, that Sam George Nettey actually spoke the mind of the President and his government. At least the equally reckless response to Mr. Greenstreet's comments by President John Mahama in his address When he described Mr. Greenstreet as one who suffers from 'incurable selective myopia'. This is no different from the barrage of attacks that have come from other NDC stalwarts over the truthful comments made by the CPP's General Secretary. We would however remind Mahama and his hirelings that indeed, if there is anything that Mr. Greenstreet suffers, it an incurable love for the truth. The truth which not even the taunts and stern of his government can stop. Like the Chairperson of the CPP, Samia Yaba Nkrumah rightly pointed out, Mr. Greenstreet's reference to the naked corruption and thievery under this Mahama government, was the sentiment of the ordinary Ghanaian. In concluding, I am a man who is also physically challenged and heads the communication directorate of the NPP in the Ashanti region. It is noteworthy that, my disability has in no way affected my ability to deliver on my duties. It has never distracted my judgement and ability to see right from wrong. I know my brother, Greenstreet is in the same state. He spoke the minds of the masses who are enduring the mess of this NDC government and the NDC's taunts cannot remove that. I will end with a quote from Mr. Greenstreet's epic speech at the Congress."The most obvious thing today is that, you don't care. Ghanaians are watching you and continue to do what you want, we know what to do when the time comes" Thank You.
