The Board, Management and Staff of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) wish the people of
Ghana a successful and prosperous New Year. We wish the best for our stakeholders and customers as we
see off the trying times of 2014 that served to strengthen our resolve to be even more successful.
In 2014, we accomplished what was thought to be unattainable � the completion of Phase I of the Western
Corridor Gas Infrastructure Development Project, also known as the Ghana Gas project. This three-tier
project includes a 12-inch 58-kilometre Offshore Pipeline from the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah Vessel to the
reception facilities onshore, a state of the art Gas Processing Plant at Atuabo, and a 20-inch 111-kilometre
Onshore Pipeline from Atuabo to Takoradi.
The raw natural gas received is processed into four derivative
products: Lean Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Condensates and Pentanes. The Lean Gas is
transported via the Onshore Pipeline, which crosses various water bodies such as the great River
Ankobra; several roads and highways, and passes over land belonging to thousands of individuals in 60
communities, to the VRA-run Aboadze Thermal Plant.
It is a critical moment in our company�s history, as we prepare to forge ahead to begin full-scale
commercial production to contribute significantly to the nation�s rapid development. This will be
achieved through the provision of Ghana�s first home-sourced lean gas, condensates and pentanes to
power the nation�s thermal plants, and the supply of about 75% of the annual national demand for LPG
for commercial and domestic uses.
Ghana Gas has received appropriate permits from the regulatory authorities to test and ramp-up the
Atuabo Gas Processing Plant to its full 150-mmscfd capacity, even as we await VRA�s completion of
retrofitting works on two of its four turbines at Aboadze. This will allow Aboadze to successfully off-take
the full volume of Lean Gas from Atuabo to power their systems for the production of electricity to meet
the nation�s energy needs.
So far, the commissioning has been successful and Ghana Gas remains ready for the commencement of
full commercial activity.
Ghanaians have recognized the tremendous journey/success of Ghana Gas and awarded its CEO the Best
CEO of the Year (Upstream Sector) at the maiden Ghana Oil and Gas (GOGA) 2014 Awards night
As we embark on the next phase, we wish Ghanaians the best, and pledge to contribute our quota to the
development of the nation.
We, hereby, take this opportunity thank our Stakeholders, Board, Staff, and numerous Ghanaians who
have all aided us in diverse ways. It has been your efforts that have made Ghana Gas the first indigenous
gas processing company in Ghana.
May 2015 bring renewed energy to soar us even higher. Ghana Gas wishes Ghanaians a blessed, happy,
