Honor Kofi Boakye Now -A Policemans Police

It cannot be gainsaid that the successes chalked by todays Ghana Police Service wouldnt be complete without the mentioning of the exploits of the once beleaguered DCOP Kofi Boakye, now Ashanti regional commander. Despite his past agonizing troubles which almost whisked him away from the job he loves and does with passion, Commander One, as he is affectionately called, has kept his head above the stormy waters and continues being the shining model for other policemen and women. Whenever the name Kofi Boakye is mentioned two things come to mind; the awful ordeal he suffered in the MV Benjamin cocaine saga or the fear it evoke among criminals who run for cover. He carries with him a complex web of wisdom that defines the rules of modern day policing anywhere he finds himself, the Kofi Boakye magic. This has earned him wide recognition among Ghanaians with suggestions that if other policemen and women should operate like him, the country, insofar as crime is concern, would be among the safest in the world. Worthy of mention is DCOP Kofi Boakyes resolute stands when it comes to what must be done even in the face of stiff resistance from what has become known as order from above and this, arguably, was what led to his painful experience in the missing 77 parcels of cocaine. Even as the main culprits were left off the hook in the cocaine saga under the Kufuor administration, the brave police commander tribulations, it was later gathered; was to be shamelessly sacrificed alongside Tagor and Alhaji Issah Abass to please western powers who first alerted Ghana about the arrival of the ship carrying the illicit drugs and who were panting on the governments shoulders to deal with the issue. This unfortunate incident logically, affected DCOP Kofi Boakyes promotion as a result of which, his juniors in the police service have bypassed him and have now become his seniors. But this did not deter Kofi Boakye to continue working hard as a patriotic police officer. Following his recall back into the police service by the Mills administration DCOP Kofi Boakye has demonstrated even enough reasons why the Ghana Police Service and the country needs his services most. His commitment to duty at his first posting at the Police Training School after his recall saw him distinguish himself so well that, the administration deemed it fit to transfer him to the Western region as regional commander. Residents of that part of the country are witnesses to the improvements he brought to policing and the sanity in the region. As a result, when the time came for the Police administration to dispatch someone to the Ashanti region, which was gradually gaining notoriety for criminal activities, no other person than Kofi Boakye was send to the populous region to carry out the assignment. And his exploits in the regional so far has been the talk of town and has arguably send shivers down the spines of criminals and trouble makers in the region. For this reason, no mean persons than the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, have openly and publicly lauded his effort. DCOP Kofi Boakyes exploits have contributes to carved a new image for the Ghana Police Service under another hardworking IGP, Mohamed Alhassan, and by extension the country. He is an epitome of hardworking police officer worthy of emulation. For the commitment, dedication and hard work he has shown so far, The aL-hAJJ humbly call on the President, John Dramani Mahama, the Police Council, the Inspector General of Police and the Police administration to duly reward DCOP Kofi Boakye, and if possible restore what he lost during his tribulations and interdiction whiles he is alive. Even as these tons of praises pour on him, The aL-hAJJ would like to caution the hardworking Ashanti regional commander not to be complacent, not to become a one-man gladiator, instead he should respect the rule of law, the rights of people and operate within the remits of the law. Kofi, we say Ayeeeekoo.
