Black Stars Bonus Debate Unnecessary - Mahama Ayariga

Youth and Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga has called on the media to stop talking about how much the Black Stars will be getting as bonus in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) which starts from 17th January to 8th February, 2015 in Equatorial Guinea. The discussion on the bonus package on the airwaves, the Minister said are becoming source of destruction and embarrassment. Nine days to the start of the tournament, the teeming sports enthusiasts in the country are yet to be told of the exact amount that would be paid to the team as bonuses causing many including sports journalists to be asking questions about the bonuses to be paid the team. They also demanding that government comes out with the budget government would be spending on the team. These questions, described in an interview with Asempa FMs Upper East Regional, Humul Kulsum Tahiru, as unnecessary for the media to be focusing on how much the Government of Ghana would be spending on the Black Stars. What is necessary, he said, would be for the media to mobilize the population around the team. Very often discussion about the Black Stars end up been about remuneration and bonus packages and this and that but let me assure you that we are all public servants here and very few people like their salary to be discussed 24 hours on radio. It becomes a source of destruction and sometimes embarrassing so I will continue to appeal to our friends in the media that while we have the right to demand the accountability we also should be mindful of the way we distract the boys by focusing too much and unduly on what it is that theyre been rewarded with, he appealed. - See more at: http://www.ghana-news.adomonline.com/sports/2015/January-8th/black-stars-bonus-debates-in-media-unnecessary-mahama-ayariga.php#sthash.tXwzLmx3.dpuf
