Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is mocking members of pressure group, the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) for their loud silence. According to him, he is shocked that members of the pressure group which gained fame for its stated purpose of fighting for poor Ghanaians are now part of the current administration which is inflicting hardships on Ghanaians. "Where is the CJA...their members are now apologies of the government...," he said at a press conference to react to the 2015 budget statements. The pressure group became a household name in 2008 for mounting pressure on government on social issues. Its 'Wahala' demonstrations demanded of government of the day to reduce fuel prices to make life bearable for Ghanaians. The group was led by various political figures including late President John Mills, the Ahwoi brothers and several other current ministers including now deputy education minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa, Agric Minister Fifi Kwettey and Communications minister, Edward Omane Boamah. Social commentator and journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jr was also known to be a vociferous spokesman for the group. The level of advocacy by the group which influenced several government policies now seem to have died down causing people to refer to the group as 'defunct'. And this surprises the Minority Leader who signalled his preparedness to help get the group back on the streets to embark on the same level of advocacy they did some years ago in the face of the current crisis. Other members of the group including Ama Benyiwa Doe, who initially took frontline roles in the NDC have now taken a relative back seat. Madam Benyiwa Doe is now a member of the Council of State.
