The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is said to have been thrown into a state of shock, following the Mahama administration�s novel plan to highlight its various development projects, particularly on social media,��can confirm. The move is said to have forced the NPP to rethink its propaganda messages against the government, which it claims have squandered most of the multi-billion dollar loan it had secured since assuming power. Shortly after the Christmas celebration, the communications outfit of�government flooded the various social media networks with pictorial highlights of most of the projects being undertaken by the John Dramani Mahama�s administration. The move was to counter several allegations from the NPP that the government has squandered the multi-billion dollar loans it had secured so far without undertaken any meaningful development project. Initially, the NPP sought to discredit these projects�by claiming they were a hoax, they claimed the artists impressions of the projects were �photoshopped�. These people [the NDC government] take us for fools, artist impressions/architectural drawings now projects. Reminds me of plans are far advanced. (Green Books) Desperately desperate. By force we dey do something, make you believe,� Perry Okudjeto, a key communication executive of the NPP wrote on his Facebook wall. Later, the NPP�s communication director, Nana Akomea, admitted these projects but quickly claimed that they were fraught with corruption. On cue, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia, Mattew Opoku-Prempeh alleged that for instance, the cost of the Kumasi Airport lights had been padded in scandalous manner. Information picked up by this paper indicates that when it turned out that all these projects were indeed being implemented and while trying to put up a bold face in their continuous criticism of the Mahama administration, the NPP has been forced to hold secret meetings to discuss strategies of how to discredit the projects. Our sources say the party virtually discusses these development projects in every meeting they hold, and are seriously devising several means to deflate the favorable public ratings that these published projects have brought to the government in the past couple of weeks. The flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was scheduled to return to Ghana from his UK holiday amidst pomp and pageantry, but had reportedly made�a detour of his plans as he and his strategists go back to the drawing board to deflect the threat to his political ambitions. The NPP had attempted to use all sorts or diversionary tactics to switch the attention of the general public from the ongoing expos�of development projects by the NDC. The party recently tried to switch to its latest narcotics politics when it became evident that the busted drug baroness, Nayele Ametefeh, was going to face the UK court in its final verdict of her drug smuggling activities to the UK. Agents of the opposition tried to impugn collaboration between Ms. Ametefeh and some powerful people in the government, but this strategy backfired�when it was revealed in the UK court that Ms. Ametefeh had worked with all sorts of politicians, including some unnamed individuals in the NPP administration in 2004.
