Central Medical Stores situated in the Tema Industrial Area has been gutted by fire Tuesday morning destroying millions of properties. The fire which started at midmorning seethed on as the area was chock-full with thick dark smoke. According to Peace FM�s Tema correspondent, Ohene Amponsah, fire service personnel are still struggling to put the spreading fire under control completely as at midday. �Several fire tenders are seen rushing in and out of the place to access water (from hydrants) to control the fire,� Ohene Amponsah reported The destroyed building is a medical warehouse for the Ghana Health Service where all medicines and medical equipment are kept for distribution to health facilities across the country. The place also houses the Central Mechanic Workshop. Observers at the scene noted that the fire started as a result of some workers burning rubbish in the premises. According to them, because they do not have fire extinguishers at the premises, they wanted to use the pipe lines which water was not also flowing through.
