Pressure Mounts On GHS

Scores of Ghanaians have mounted intense pressure on the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to make known the findings of the report of the committee which was set-up to investigate the alleged extortion of money from patients by the health workers, particularly, the doctors and nurses at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra region. Today in its Tuesday, December 30, 2014 edition reported on how some of the doctors and nurses of the state-owned health facility�Mamprobi Polyclinic had been demanding huge sums of money from patients who went to the clinic for medical treatment. Since Today�s expose� the Ministry of Health (MOH) ordered the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to set-up a committee to investigate the conduct of the nurses and doctors at the Mamprobi Polyclinic. The committee was to submit its report on Friday January 9, 2015. But according to sources, the GHS had since not submitted the committee�s findings to the ministry of health. And that worrying situation, Today gathered has raised an eyebrow where Ghanaians, particularly, the residents of Ablekuma Central and South constancies in the Greater Accra region wanted the disclosure of the report so as to erase any doubt the public might have had. According to the residents, the reason assigned to the conduct of the state health workers who were on duty on that fateful day- Tuesday, November 18, 2014, was that, they (doctors and nurses) were few to attend to the number of patients who came to the clinic, hence their decision to collect money so as to do �over time�
