I Knew We Were Going To Beat Ghana Senegal Coach

Head coach of the Senegalese national team, Allain Giresse has said he was confident his team was going to beat Ghana despite the early lead by the Black Stars in their first Group C game at the Estadio De Mongomo, Mongomi last Monday. I never doubted the capabilities of my players. I knew they were going to win the game at the end of the day. I realised we had to rely on long balls to overcome our opponents. They found the long balls difficult to deal with hence our decision to use that approach. We struggled with this in the first half but I think it worked very well in the second half and we dominated the game throughout, he added. According to coach Girrese, the changes he made in the second half also had a positive impact on the team. It was a tactical change. We did that with a mission in mind and it worked out well for us. The coach however noted that, they were not going to relax but work hard on their weaknesses to improve in the next game. We are not taking chances at all. We have more to do and the next few days will see us dealing with those areas. We have a very strong team capable of taking on any opposition so we must always be prepared. Senegal will play South Africa on Friday, January 23 in the second game of Group C.
