The government is making every effort to parry frivolous and misguided propaganda from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that President John Dramani Mahama, has failed and show Ghanaians what he has done when he took the oath of office two years ago. Even though that will provoke any Ghanaian, with love for country, to vote for him to continue in power come 2016. The General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, known politically as General Mosquito, on the other hand is fixated on loads of inanities and laughable fictions that will rather put the government and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in bad light, and generate unnecessary debate that has already passed under the bridge and which will not serve any purpose. Since the beginning of the year, the government has finally heeded to the calls some of us have been making all this while, the people of this country are only interested in what the government has done to better their lives, the time spent in responding to unsubstantiated and unfounded allegations from the opposition NPP, was time and energy that could be expended to talk about projects and bring to the doorsteps of Ghanaians the �Better Ghana Agenda� the party promised and which is being delivered with panache. Former President and founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings, said something sometime ago that people failed to address their minds to, he said that in the 2012 general elections the NDC, needed President John Dramani Mahama, to win and in 2016, the President, will need the party to win the election. Many Members of Parliament (MPs) are in Parliament today, because of the appeal of President Mahama. I will add further that not only did the party needed President Mahama in 2012 to win a landslide election against a more marketed and exposed candidate in the person of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but he was the game changer for the party in 2008. Ever since, he assumed office after the demise of Prof Evans Atta Mills, or when he was made the Vice-President, to the chagrin of many people, including me, the President has made frantic effort to bring people, who although belonged to the party, decided to abandon ship or remain quiet, back into the fold of the party. He has also succeeded in winning many opposition element to the party and it was so evident in the 2012 election, where even senior members of the NPP, were accused of selling information to the NDC. The 2012 campaign, although the President, had about three months to execute, could be likened to what happened in 2008, in the United States of America (USA), with respect to President Barrack Obama. The campaign would go down as one of the most aggressive and clean campaign in the history of Ghana. The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, arguably is the best General Secretary for any political party, but he must as well know better that timing is very important in politics. On Wednesday, after a lot of water had passed under the bridge, regarding the arrest of Ruby Nayele Ametefe, and her subsequent incarceration in the United Kingdom (UK), held a press conference to distance the NDC party from the lady and claim that the NPP, are more into cocaine than the NDC. I beg to disagree with General Mosquito, the government needs to be focused and not have its legs taken off the gas, Ghanaians have demonstrated enough confidence in the capacity of President Mahama, to deliver on his electoral promises. This is not the time for the NDC and the government to engage in baseless arguments with the opposition, which we all know are not true. The opposition NPP, have made it clear from day one that, they will make it impossible for President Mahama to govern, they made this clear when they dragged him to the Supreme Court, in an election petition that we all know, was a ploy to frustrate the President from executing his mandate. The President, even alluded to it in Kumasi, when he said that no matter how well a Hen dances, it will never appease the Hawk. We cannot be driving forward and looking into the rear mirror. I wake up this morning and from one radio station to another, all I hear was General Mosquito�s press conference and which political party is neck deep in the illicit drug trade. The first question I asked myself is, was the press conference necessary? Yes it was, was what discussion necessary? No. General Mosquito, should have taken advantage of the press conference to tell Ghanaians the projects the government is executing and which has been captured on various platforms, including newspapers, or better still what the new Executives, were putting in place to help the President win the 2016 election, with another landslide, without the NPP, dragging this country into another useless court case. Ghanaians are not bought over by NPP�s less edifying resort to tantrums, lies, abuses and blackmail, if they did the NDC, will have lost the 2012 elections. The failure of the eight years of NPP is the singular most important factor that is buoying President Mahama today, because in two years, he had done more than they could in eight years. His own spectacular performance since he assumed office two years ago, his towering incorruptible personality; all combined to make him a folk hero, a cult personality of sorts among distraught and tempest-tossed Ghanaians looking for a messiah. President Mahama, has connection with the Ghanaian people through the deliberate acts he did while he was the Vice-President and now President. This is the sustainer to his Presidency, the driver to his immense acceptability, even with the desperate efforts of those ragged by the prospects of his winning again in 2016. General Mosquito, should wake-up to the realization that Kwawdo Owusu Afriyie, alias Sir John, is no longer the General Secretary of the NPP, who will always undo him in terms of bad language and unsubstantiated allegations. What we have now in both the NDC and the NPP, is a dawn of a new day and a new era, as far as Executives are concerned. We have different tactics to fighting different wars.
