Nobody Should Contest President Mahama

A university don at the University of Education has advised political players not to contest President John Mahama ahead of the 2016 Presidential Election. Yarhands Dissou Arthur of the College of Technology Education said nobody in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should contest the President in the party primary to foster unity. In a media statement cited by Starrfmonline, he said allowing Mahama to go unchallenged would forestall any needless distractions in the ruling party as well as maintain rock solid front. Arthur said it would be politically unwise and disadvantageous for any member of the party in good standing to run against the sitting President at this time. He said although it was within everyones right to challenge the President, this right should be weighed against the overall interest and the partys electoral fortunes.
