Lay Money Matters Aside And Sacrifice For Your Country - Ursula Owusu Appeals To Stars' Players

Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, has stressed the need for the national team players to show commitment and a sense of nationalism in the ongoing African Nations Cup in Equitorial Guinea. Speaking on "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM, Hon. Ekuful bemoaned the lack of commitment in the Black Stars camp and the unpatriotic fever that seem to have caught up with the players. According to her, the players should not overconcentrate on the financial gains that they derive from the coffers of the Ghana Football Association, on the ticket of the Ghanaian taxpayers, but rather show much allegiance to the country by giving off their best in the AFCON. Giving an account of her jingoistic instinct and love for mother Ghana, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful noted that she didn't strive to be in Parliament for money but rather for service to her constituents and the entire nation. To her, she is in Parliament to "help"; not to let the love for money overshadow her spirit of nationalism. She therefore wants the Black Stars players to take a cue and so, pleaded with them "not to think about the money. They should rather think about what they're doing to benefit the entire nation. They should lay aside money matters and sacrifice for this country... "Let your light so shine...Black Stars can show the way," she urged.
