A 22-year-old lady who has been disfigured through an acid attack by a jilted lover has called for justice. The victim, Mavis Anita Otimah, a boiled egg seller, said the arrest and prosecution of Kwabena Ofosu, a trotro driver, would serve as a deterrent to others. According to her, the acid has destroyed her body and rendered her incapable of getting married because of her severe skin damage. She has, therefore, appealed to the police to ensure that they hunt her ex-lover. Speaking to The Finder at her residence at Lapaz, Accra, Otimah explained that she was in a relationship with Kwabena Ofosu, who is currently on the run, for about six months before she found out that he was married with two children. Consequently, she quit the relationship. She explained that on May 16, 2014 at about 9pm, five clear months after they had broken up, Kwabena visited her at home. According to her, Kwabena said a certain man of God had told him that Otimah had used him (Kwabena) for a ritual, resulting in a long sickness he had been battling with. �The said man of God told Kwabena that he would die and then that would make me rich,� Otimah said in tears. Otimah�s mother, Christiana Antwi, who was present at the time Kwabena made the accusation, suggested that Kwabena should go home and return the following day because of a power outage in the area. Besides, it was late. In addition, she entreated Kwabena to come to the crunch meeting with the said bishop who told him the revelation. At about 3am the next day, Otimah said Kwabena returned to the house and while everybody was fast asleep in the open, he poured acid on her. She screamed, but Kwabena escaped. Otimah narrated that an official complaint was made to the Lapaz Police Post and she was issued with a medical form to go to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where she was admitted for eight months and underwent medical treatment and several surgeries. She said, �My family and loved ones have spent close to GH�30,000 on my medical bills until I was discharged last Friday. �His family has only supported me with GH�1,200. I need over GH�8,000 to undergo other surgeries and to continue my treatment. �Ofosu has ruined me�he has deformed my face, hand and body and I am blinded in the right eye. The police must find Ofosu to pay for his wickedness,� she groaned. When contacted, a police personnel at the Lapaz Police Post, who wanted to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident and added that the police picked information that Kwabena was hiding in Begro, Eastern Region. However, efforts to find him have proved fruitless. He assured the victim that the police have not given up their search for Kwabena Ofosu.
