Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region has described the wearing of a female winter coat by the Chief Scribe of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as akin to a “Drag Queen”.

According to Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, “there are men who like to dress like women. These men are called ‘Kojo Basia’ in our local palace but are known as drag queens in English and that is exactly how Johnson Asiedu Nketia is”.

He made these comments on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme after Mr. Asiedu Nketia had revealed that the winter cloth he wore to accompany President Mahama on a State visit to Germany was his wife’s.

In an earlier interview with Kumasi based Hello FM, the NDC General Secretary stated that he decided to use his wife’s winter coat since he was going to be in Germany for only a few days and would have wasted money to shop for a coat.

However, what has ignited another debate altogether is Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s assertion that he did not see the need to buy a designer winter coat like most Ghanaians living outside who earn a living by carrying human excreta would do.

But Hon. Kofi Jumah is of the view that “he ( Asiedu Nketia) must be bold to apologize for bringing his family, the President and the Nation to shame..."
