Richard Nyamah, one of the persons who petitioned President Mahama to have Lauretta Lamptey removed from office as the Commissioner of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), will today, January 26, 2015, face the committee set up to investigate allegations of misconduct against her.

The Justice Anin Yeboah-led Committee will meet at the premises of the Supreme Court in Accra. 

The hearing will be held in-camera.

Richard Nyamah who is the Convener for pressure group, Progressive Nationalists Forum (PNF), petitioned the President to have Lauretta Lamptey removed, after she was accused of spending $180,000 on rent alone within three years and another GHC182,000 on renovation of her official bungalow.

The issue raised public uproar with various groups and individuals calling for her removal.

She subsequently denied the allegations saying the hotel accommodation was provided by the commission, denying allegations that she insisted on it.

She also explained that the renovation of her bungalow was commissioned former CHRAJ boss Justice Emile Short, before she was sworn into office.

Meanwhile, President Mahama has suspended her to pave way for investigations to commence.

Richard Nyamah had earlier expressed readiness to meet the committee.

In a related development,  citifmonline.com has gathered that Yaw Annoh Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyir and the Forum for Governance and Justice also forwarded petitions but were rejected by the Attorney General’s Department during the process of establishing of a ‘primia facie’ case.
