Essien Rejects Premier League Move To Avert Playing Against Chelsea

Ghanaian international Michael Essien has rejected an offer to sign for English Premier League sides QPR and West Brom Albion.

According to reports, the two premier League sides were in hunt to acquire the signature of the former Chelsea midfielder after meeting with his agent Fabien Piveteau.

The 32-year-old was expected to seal a deal with one of the two Clubs before the winter transfer market comes to an end on February 2.

The AC Milan midfielder is said to have rejected the offers to prevent him from playing against his former Club Chelsea. His agent confirmed.

“Essien doesn’t want to play in the Premier League for a different side to his old club Chelsea,” Piveteau said.

“We have turned down offers from both West Brom and QPR.”

Essien clinched several laurels at Chelsea after winning two English Premier League titles, four FA Cup trophies, one League Cup, one Community Shield and one Champions League trophy during his 9-year spell with the “Blues”.

The former Lyon midfielder is said to be considering a move away from Italian giants AC Milan having enjoyed minimum playing time at the San Siro.
