Ghana's opponents for the quarter-finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations would be decided today through a ballot.

Guinea and Mali after their third Group D match were tied on points and goals forcing the organisers for the first time in many years to use lot to break the deadlock and decide which team qualifies for the quarter finals.

Guinea and Mali got to the stalemate yesterday after they drew 1-1 in Mongomo.

Modibo Maiga's header from Abdoulay Diaby's cross in the second half left Mali and Guinea with identical records, having drawn each of their games 1-1.

Guinea had taken the lead when Kevin Constant coolly dinked home a penalty given for handball by Salif Coulibaly.

Mali should have levelled immediately but Seydou Keita's penalty was saved.

• Meanwhile Cote d'Ivoire stormed into the quarterfinals of the competition after a 1-0 victory over Cameroun in Malabo yesterday.

The Ivorians top Group D after Max Gradel’s first-half strike handed them the points and supplied the only victory in the six matches in the pool.
