Sex Strike Imminent?...Can Men Survive If ALL Women Withdraw "Bedroom & Boardroom" Services?

Gender Advocate and NPP Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful has bemoaned the lackadaisical attitude of political parties in the country towards women empowerment.

According to her, it is disheartening the number of “women we have in our parliament today…last year when we elected our national executives, it was only one woman they voted for; meanwhile other women contested” adding, there is the need to encourage women in politics.

Still on affirmative action, the NPP MP, who was contributing to a panel discussion on PEACEFM's Morning Show, "Kokrokoo", rhetorically asked the host Kwami Sefa Kayi if men will survive should women withdraw all their services; “from the bedroom to the boardroom”.

She thus urged all the political parties to, as part of their 2015 resolution, be committed to women empowerment especially in politics as well as ensure that there is a "women only shortlist" in election situation.

““All the parties should endeavor to embark on a path to empower women. We have the numbers, the power but we have not used it. All of them are treating us like comforters. All the political parties; I will not exclude any of them. So all women should rise up and fight for their right. We cannot continue to develop our country with half of our human resources. We need to demonstrate and show that women are important. Can you imagine if all the women are to go on strike from the bedroom to the boardroom? We need to demonstrate that we cannot continue like this. In NPP we have one…we should be ashamed of ourselves. We should demonstrate that we have a need for women in our party. NDC should also do the same; so should all the other political parties,” Hon Ursula Owusu stated.
