Konlah Akrofi, the Administrator of the Nsawam Government Hospital has called on Ghanaians to dismiss media reportage suggesting that three babies have died in the hospital due to the ongoing load shedding exercise by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

According to him, a report by Joy FM on the impact of load shedding exercise on the facility was twisted to put the hospital in a bad light.

“…some of your colleagues from Joy FM came here and they went reporting falsehood about this hospital so we have resolved to stop speaking to all media houses for now”.

“How can you say that three babies have died in Nsawam Government Hospital since the beginning of the year when nothing of that sought has happened?” why would you do that? Mr. Akrofi fumed.

The Administrator of the Nsawam Government Hospital, which has been acclaimed as one of the best district hospitals in the country bemoaned the fact that the adverse media reportage on Myjoyonline.com with the caption, "Erratic power supply: babies dying at the Nsawam Government Hospital", has had a negative effect on the facilities and for that matter would not grant anymore interviews to the media.

On his word, this put fear in pregnant women who visited the hospital for antenatal care and others who had plans of coming to deliver there since numbers dropped after the Joy FM report.

However, a standby generator which served the whole facility was running at the time of the visit by the Peacefmonline.com team.

Discussions with some maintenance officer of the hospital also revealed that the hospital administration was spending thousands of Cedis on fuel to power the three standby generators each day.
