Security Man Assaults Pregnant Woman

A 52-year-old  private security guard is standing trial at  the Amasaman District Court A for assaulting a 28-year-old pregnant woman.

Alex Korda, was said to have hit the woman’s head with a frying pan.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢2,500.00 with one surety.

The case was adjourned to February 25, 2015.

Presenting the facts to the court, the prosecutor, Sgt Salifu Nashiru, said  the  complainant in the case, Benedicta Hogba, and her husband were  tenants in Korda’s house at Asiofan near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

Sgt Nashiru said on December 22, 2014, Korda quarrelled with Hogba. As a result, Korda, in a bid to eject Hogba’s family, offered her the balance of her rent advance but she refused to  accept it.

Not long after that, Korda was said to have invited Hogba’s pastor to the house to mediate for a peaceful settlement.

Sgt Nashiru said while the pastor was speaking with Hogba’s husband, Korda attacked her.

He said, Korda struck Hogba on the head three times with a frying pan and she bled profusely until her pastor and her husband came to her rescue.

A report was made to the police and Korda was arrested.
