Stolen Wedding Ring Exposes Robber

A young man who was saved by the police from being lynched by angry residents at Anyaa NIC, a suburb of Accra on suspicion of being an armed robber has found himself in fresh trouble hours after a wedding ring he stole from one of his victims’ gave him away.

Ishmael Ali, 20, and another accomplice, now on the run, were said to have gone on a robbing spree on January 19, 2015,   when they run out of luck and were apprehended by some residents who decided to lynch them.

One of the suspects was able to escape arrest save Ali who bore the brunt of the angry residents.

According to the Anyaa police, they had the information that someone had been lynched only to get there to realize that the victim was still alive.

Ali was subsequently, sent to the Police Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

But as fate would  have it, upon return to the Police Station from the hospital , one of Ali’s victim, Edem Akude had also turned up to report a case of robbery at the same police station.

 After a careful look on Ali’s left hand ring finger, Edem spotted his wedding ring which was taken from him during the robbery attack.

According to Police Superintendent Abraham Acquaye , Odorkor District Police Commander, Ali and his accomplice , who were on a motor bike , robbed Edem of his wedding ring , mobile phone and an amount of GHC15.00. at gun point earlier that day.

He told Weekend Finder that Edem was able to identify his attacker when he reported the case at the Anyaa Police Station with the ring on the suspect’s finger as evidence.

Ali was subsequently detained and is currently on remand.
