Condom Use Low In Accra

A former Eastern Regional Coordinator for National AIDS Control Program, Dr. Samson Boadu Ofori has indicated that the use of condoms in Accra has decreased significantly.

He attributed the phenomenon to the seemingly lack of awareness on the dangers of having unprotected sex.

Dr Boadu disclosed that only 24 percent of sexually active Ghanaians use condoms, a situation he described as discouraging.

According to him, most partners prefer to have sex without the use of condom to built of trust, hence the decline for the use of condoms in the country.

Though some section of the public believed in having sex without condom, Dr. Ofori explained that the use of condom will help to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

He appealed to the public to not to put their lives at risk and make use of condoms.
