Eight SIM box centres have been busted by the police following extensive technical work undertaken by Subah Infosolutions Ghana limited for the National Communications Authority (NCA), Ministry of Communications, and security agencies.

Some SIM box fraudsters were arrested during the exercise in Accra, Tema, Koforidua and Kumasi. Subah’s state-of-art telecom devices helped to locate these fraudsters.

The Managing Director of Subah Infosolutiosn Ghana Limited, Mr. Birenda Sasmal, in a statement to the Ghana News Agency, gave the assurance that: “Assisting regulatory and security agencies to effect the arrest of the fraudsters was one of the many ways Subah was helping to reduce revenue loss to the government and people of Ghana.

“Subah remains committed to facilitating effective telecom resource mobilization for national development.”

In a media briefing yesterday, the Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah, said: “Government is delighted that Subah Infosolutions is helping save the country telecom revenue losses caused by division of international calls through fraudulent SIM boxes. Government will continue the fight against SIM box fraud relentlessly.”

The government and the people of Ghana lost about US$33.5 million from the activities of fraudsters in the eight locations busted. Dealing with this situation has, therefore, become a priority for the Ministry of Communications, NCA and telecom operators.
