The investigator in the alleged sodomy case involving Dr. Sulley Ali Gabass, a medical practitioner at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, yesterday testified in camera before an Accra circuit court.
The case was consequently later adjourned to February 19, to enable the counsel for the accused to cross-examine him.
The investigator, Sergeant (Sgt.) Odei Asiedu, was the third prosecution witness in the case.
Information gathered by The Ghanaian Times indicates that the investigator told the court about the evidence he had gathered since the case started.
He informed the court of the pictures he took to facilitate, pictures he took of the Effia Nkwanta Hospital where Dr. Gabass works as a medical practitioner, his (Dr. Gabass) house and the hospital where the victim was admitted when he later fell ill.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Rita Agyemang-Budu, adjourned the case to tomorrow.
The counsel for the accused will then open their defence after the prosecution had invited all the witnesses involved in the case.
The victim, who is the first prosecution witness, had earlier testified, followed by a Joy fm’s investigative Journalist, Manasseh Awuni Azure, who first published the story leading to the arrest of the accused and subsequent prosecution in court.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Idan Derry, told the court that the accused, between October 2013 and April 2014, sodomised the teenager five times at Kasoa in the Central Region, and Alajo in Accra.
He said the victim is a student and lives at Kasoa, while Dr. Gabass is a medical practitioner at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Takoradi.
Dr. Gabass, according to the prosecutor, encountered the victim on facebook in September 2013, and they became friends and later established contacts on phone and online.
The court heard that in October 2013, Dr. Gabass arranged and met the victim at the Kasoa New Market area and had anal sex with him in his car, in front of a bank.
On December 28, 2013, at about 7p.m, the accused again met the victim at Kasoa and again had sex with him, after which he gave him a Samsung Galaxy phone and GH¢20 which the teenager initially turned down, but was coerced to accept.
Thereafter, the victim fell ill and he informed the accused who prescribed paracetamol for him.
