Israels 2015 AGRITECH To Eliminate Post-harvest Challenges In Ghana

The Embassy of Israel will on Tuesday, 3rd March 2015 will hold a breakfast meeting for governmental officials, agricultural companies, big farmers, agro-processors, financial and investment institutions focusing on agriculture and major private and public sector players in the field of agro-business as well as the media to serve as a briefing session on the prospects and projections of participation in AGRITECH 2015 in Israel.

The breakfast meeting will feature a key note delivery by Dr. Moshe Azencot, a renowned Israeli agronomist who has vast experience working in developing countries.

Agritech is one of the world’s most important exhibitions in the field of agricultural technologies. This year’s event will be held from April 28-30, 2015 at the Israel Trade Fairs and Convention Center in Tel Aviv.

AGRITECH 2015 will focus on Post-Harvest and Food Security.  The world is currently witnessing far changes in the agriculture industry due to the influences of nature such as climate change, depleting natural resources and economic influences in the form of the needs of the developing world. Ghana is no exception to this status quo. These conditions will continue to exert their influence not only on crop production but also on the increasingly value of harvest.

This situation prompts the need for an investment in post- harvest systems which are quite diverse, depending on the place, crop or products and the different stages of activity involved. Thus Israel’s AGRITECH 2015 will create that one platform needed for the presentation and examination of high technology yet practical in post-harvest methods and processes.

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Sharon Bar li is therefore calling on Ghanaian agricultural companies, government, and individuals ,etc. to participate in the event saying- "Israeli Agricultural Technology is offering innovation, creativity and adaptability to varying challenges. In Ghana, it is estimated that more than half of agricultural output is lost annually. Israel and Ghana can join forces to face the challenges of post-harvest losses and create food security and self-sufficiency.

AGRITECH conference and exhibition is held in Israel once every three years. The AGRITECH 2015 Breakfast Meeting will enable stakeholder to get a glimpse into the Conference and Exhibition, and learn about the possibilities to plan a tailor maid visit and meetings, so as to maximize the results of their attendance”.

The last AGRITECH, held in 2012, attracted a total of 35,100 visitors including 1 Prime Minister, 40 Agriculture Ministers and many Deputy Ministers as well as 253 exhibitors from around the world. Approximately 16% of all foreign visitors were from Africa, 25% from India and 24% from Europe. AGRITECH 2015 is expected to attract an even larger patronage with seniors government officials confirmed to attend.
