Andre Ayew Says He Was Misquoted On Marseille's Financial Challenges

Olympique Marseille ace Andre Ayew says he has been misquoted over the club’s financial position.

The 25-year-old suggested he was not ready to take a pay cut and remain at the club because of the club’s financial challenges.

Ayew feared Marseille would not meet his wage demands.

But the Ghana international says he was misquoted by journalists on Marseille’s financial position.

“None of the players has complained about not receiving his salary at the end of the month,” Ayew told L’Equipe.

“I just wanted to mean that Marseille couldn’t afford anymore huge wages like it was the case with Heinze or Lucho Gonzalez at the time.

“As far as I am concerned, I have always received my salary at the end of the month for the last 8 years I am here.”
