Karbo On Prez Mahama's 'Won Gbo' Response

A former National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abeyifa Karbo has commended President John Dramani Mahama for the comments he made after his party’s ‘Won Gbo’ demonstration.

The NPP on Wednesday hit the streets of Accra to register their displeasure over the worsening power crisis, as well as poor economic management by the Mahama-led administration.

The demonstration, which was attended by hundreds of Ghanaians including NPP sympathisers, was tagged ‘Won Gbo’; to wit ‘we are dying’

Speaking after the demonstration, President John Dramani Mahama said he takes full responsibility for the unremitting power crisis.

According to him, he has been motivated by the protest to work hard in ensuring that the ‘dumsor’ comes to an end.

“I feel very encouraged to do everything possible to end this problem… every government has a responsibility to add additional megawatts of power to what is already there just to meet the demand. As President, I take full responsibility for the power crisis and promise to get the country out of it” President Mahama said.

Contributing to a panel discussion on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ Karbo said: “For the NPP to get a presidential response on this demonstration, it means it has had an impact. Some of us are happy with the President’s comment…”

"It is amazing the kind of professionalism the police displayed. This is the way we want the Ghana police to operate; not to meddle in partisan politics…they are there for all Ghanaians and so the leadership of the party is grateful to the Ghana police" he added.
