Akorfa Shares Birthday With Tongu Pupils

Veteran actress, Akorfa Edjeani-Asiedu, celebrated her 46th birthday last Saturday with school children at Avedo and Adakpo communities in the Central Tongu Constituency.

She presented sports wear, educational materials and stationery to school children in the two communities. Other items donated were food items and clothing.

The actress also presented special prizes to best pupils selected from primary one to six at the Adakpo D/A basic school.  At Avedo, the I Sing of a Well star gave away new clothing.

Akorfa  took time to counsel the pupils to take their studies seriously.

"Do not let your poor background discourage you. I have seen people who attended village schools and outclassed students from big schools in Accra. Why?  Because they were determined to make a change in their lives and that of their communities", she told the pupils.

The donation, Akorfa said, was inspired by her own difficult childhood, where she and her big sister had to hawk bread to help their parents cater for them.

With gari processing being the main occupation of the women in the two communities, Akorfa, together with a group of friends, has initiated processes of putting up a gari processing shed for the women's group to enable them produce in commercial quantities for export.
