Chief Warns Against Disrupting District Elections

Nana Okatakyie Kwame AdomV, Omanhene of Bowiri, has urged his people to report persons or groups whose actions may undermine the success of the March 3 3lections.

He said some aggrieved people, who years ago, canvassed against the location of the district capital of the Biakoye District at Nkonya-Ahenkro, instead of their preferred choice of Kwamekrom, were campaigning for the people in that part of the district to abstain from voting in the District Level Elections.

Nana Adom, was speaking at a media conference, to encourage the chiefs and subjects in the traditional area to bury the hatchet and position themselves for the rapid development of the area. The Omanhene said Kwamekrom currently had no representation at the Assembly and that could not be overlooked in the affairs of development.

He condemned the situation where revenue collectors deployed  to collect taxes were frequently harassed, asking, “How do we meet our collective development aspirations when some segment of our citizenry decides to take the laws into their hands to meet their parochial gains?”.

Nana Adom said voting was a Constitutional right for all eligible  citizens, therefore, it was a criminal offence for any individual or groups to prevent others from exercising their franchise. He appealed to the people to turn out in their numbers to vote on the election day because the development of the area hinged on the voting exercise.
