That Is Osafo Marfo's Voice...Difficult To "Defend And Justify" Tape Contents - Kweku Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jr says he finds it hard to believe that the male voice on a secret tape currently circulating on various media outlets is not that of Yaw Osafo Marfo.

He said “from what I have heard, I am convinced that that is his voice and the comments I have heard even if they are cut and paste, I don’t think they are good enough and it must be said…it is difficult to defend and justify it”.

The former Finance Minister is caught in a web of tribal politics as many especially the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) continue to capitalize on what he allegedly said on the tape.

The male voice is heard bemoaning why Akan-speaking people, whose regions are rich with natural resources, are not the ones at the helm of managing those resources.

“…You have all the resources, but you have no say in the management of your resources and that is what is happening. Your development depends on the one who has no resources,” the voice said.

Speaking further on the issue on Wednesday’s edition of PEACE FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kweku Baako expressed doubts that the leaked audio tape has been doctored saying "I do not find any gaps in what was recorded".

He pointed out that this was not the first time such pronouncements bordering on ethnocentrism have been made by a politician, stressing that even if the contents of the tape or whatever transpired at the meeting were not meant for public consumption, harsh criticisms were to be expected.

Whiles condemning the unknown NPP activist who allegedly recorded and leaked the tapes saying it does not augur well for the opposition party, the seasoned journalist lashed out at those attempting to make political capital out of the tape.

According to him, it is hypocritical on the part of those who do not want to look at all the issues on board as far as tribal comments both past and present are concerned.

All the issues should be brought on board…we should condemn any sign of ethnocentrism including extreme regionalism and we have evidence of this over the years. Why is it that some people want us to focus on certain ones leaving the others?” he quizzed.
