Government Would Not Be Distracted Deputy Minister

Mr. Joseph Yamin, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, says the government is focused and would not be distracted from its goal of working to improve the situation of the people.

He said it would continue to work with zeal and determination to meet the expectation of the population, citing numerous development projects undergoing construction across the Region.

These include a 500-bed military hospital at Afari, dam project at Kumawu, a regional hospital at Sewua, the Asante-Mampong Water Project and a new terminal at the Kumasi Airport.

The Deputy Minister, who was addressing a meeting with members of the Kumasi Polytechnic branch of the Tertiary Educational Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), rallied the people to stand solidly behind the government to deliver on its mandate.

He underlined that the members and supporters of the ruling party should do more to tell the “success story of the Mahama Administration” to neutralize, what he said was the deliberate distortion and misrepresentation of facts by their political opponents.

He encouraged the TEIN to take up the responsibility of helping the people to have a better understanding of measures and initiatives launched to fight poverty and sustain the economy on the path of real growth.

The meeting was meant to provide a platform to review the performance of the group and discuss the way forward.

Mr. Brogya Genfi, the Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC, spoke of the need for them to hold together and work with unity of purpose to enhance the appeal of the party to voters, ahead of the 2016 general elections.
