How Minority MPs Kept Quiet in Parliament (PHOTOS)

Members of the minority New Patriotic Party in Parliament on Thursday attended the presentation of the State of the Nation Address in all black.

During President John Dramani Mahama’s presentation, a few of the Minority MPs were captured with leaves in between their lower and upper lips.

Seconding the motion for the House to adjourn after President Mahama had ended delivering his State of the Nation Address, Hon Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said they (Minority) wore all black to indicate that the country is in darkness and the people are not happy with the ruling government.

He also indicated that the Minority prior to the presentation had decided not to heckle the President; as normally is the case, to “protect the dignity of the House and of course the Presidency”.

“I am in black and majority of my compatriots are in black. The symbolism of it is that… your Excellency, the nation is in distress. This is ‘dum dum’ and there is just one ‘sor’….” he added.

Juxtaposing what the Minority leader said and the actions of the MPs in Parliament, probably they put the leaves in between their lips as a sign of keeping quiet.
