Mahama Only Rattled English - Paa Kow

The deputy General Secretary of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Paa Kow Ackon has described the President’s State of the Nation (SOTN) Address delivered on the floor of Parliament on Thursday as one which lacked focus and intended to deceive Ghanaians.

Paa Kow in an interview with Adomonline.com after the address said the President sought to only impress the public and the diplomatic community in Parliament with his good English speaking skills, implying the statement was an empty one.

“…It was just an opportunity to show how fluent he is in the English language, he was just speaking English…I felt so disappointed…,” he said.

The President in accordance with the 1992 constitution on Thursday, 26th February, 2015 presented to Parliament, the annual State of the Nation Address.

He promised among other things to fix the current energy crisis and also construct dozen more schools.

He also promised that government was going to distribute free school uniforms and sandals to pupils in the rural communities in the country.

But these and other promises, the PPP deputy scribe said, showed a President who lacked focus and is bent on only promising without delivering.

He said he was disappointed the President after failing to fulfill most of his promises in last year’s SOTN Address would still want to promise more.

“There was nothing new in what he presented; it was just a complete waste of time, he said nothing new…he only added more to what he failed to deliver…,” he added.

Paa Kow claimed a PPP government would have promised on delivering specific things instead of giving a litany of things he can’t deliver on.
