Hearts of Oak Deputy Coach Abugri Faces Sack, Accused of Sabotage

Accra Hearts of Oak assistant manager Stephen Abugri is likely to lose his job at the club following accusations of sabotage and subversion against head coach Herbert Addo. The former Okwahu United coach was left behind when the Phobians travelled to Benin to face AS Police in the CAF Confederations Cup second leg, in which the Phobians drew goalless to progress. But in a damning revelation, team manager of the club Sabahn Quaye has claimed that he engineered that Abugri was kicked out of the travelling delegation to Benin because the ex King Faisal coach had been undermining head coach Herbert Addo. In an exclusive interview with Accra-based Atinka FM, Sabahn Quaye said he was privy to information that Abugri has an unfriendly relations with his boss and that does not auger well for a club of its stature. "I came and I realised that there were so many problems in the club especially technical", Sabahn Quaye "I engineered that he be left home for Dauda Lutherodt to go to Benin with Herbert Addo". "We held a meeting with the whole team and board in front of Togbe and and asked whoever had issues should voice it and we realised that the issues had to do with Stephen Abugri". "How can a coach tell his players that he would love the players to play but the head coach wouldn't allow it". "Whether it is sabotage or whatever, I wont say it but I can tell you that the assistant coach was not helping his main boss".
