Student of the St Paul’s Senior High School (SPACO) at Denu have returned to the campus, two weeks after the school was closed down due to students’ riots.
The students and their guardians were made to sign bonds to be of good behaviour and abide by the code of discipline for senior high schools before they were readmitted.
The bond also compelled the students and parents/guardians to accept the decisions of the school and its governing board in all matters of discipline during the rest of the students’ stay in the school.
During a visit by the Daily Graphic to the school yesterday, many students and their parents were seen undergoing registration processes to enable their children to continue with studies at the school.
The routine covered the payment of GH¢90 deposit to cover cost of destruction caused during the riot and the joint signing of the bond form by both students and their parents.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Senior Housemaster of the school, Mr Edmund Gadzekpo, said all the decisions binding on the students were taken during a meeting between the board of governors and the Parent-Teacher Association (Pta).
He Said The regional directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) had constituted a committee to probe into the alleged case of homosexuality involving two students that sparked the riot in the school.
The students were sent home after going on the rampage, destroying property belonging to Mr Gadzekpo in his bungalow, as well as those in his office.
A form one student who was hit by a stray bullet in the process died when the police, who had come to restore order, fired warning shots.
