Madam Helen Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister on Tuesday directed Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region to take administrative action against Assembly staff who would absent themselves from the impending National Sanitation Day on Saturday.

She said staff of the various Assemblies are expected to be ambassadors for cleanliness, and therefore have  no excuse for not  honouring the National event.

Madam Ntoso gave the directive at a staff durbar of local government workers at Kete-Krachi, ahead of the Day on Saturday, March 7, to be hosted by the region in Ho.

The durbar is at the instance of Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, a Deputy Minister of Local Government, who is touring Assemblies in the Region to create awareness on the event.

Madam Ntoso asked the Assemblies to ensure that all shops are closed and economical activities suspended temporary for a successful event.

She said maintaining good sanitation calls for concerted efforts,  and appealed for support from all and sundry.

Mr Agyekum charged the Assemblies to be creative,  and ensure the success of the  exercise.

He called for the revival of sanitation clubs in basic schools,  to sustain the campaign to promote cleanliness in the country.

The team later paid a courtesy call on Nana Mprah Besemuna the Third, Krachiwura,  and invited him to participate in the event.
