Don't Take Ghana's Peace For Granted - C/R Minister

Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Central Regional Minister, has urged Ghanaians to tread cautiously with utterances and actions in order not to divide the country through partisan politics.

He stressed the need to dwell more on issues that united the country,  adding that though the country was still existing as a relatively peaceful country, in a troubled sub-region,"we cannot take this peace for granted".

Mr. Quansah said this when he addressed the 58th Independence anniversary parade held at the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast, under the theme "Achieving Transformation through national Unity".

More than 1,200 members of the security personnel form the Police, Fire Service, Prisons and Immigration, school cadet corps as well as school children from basic and senior high schools and youth organizations took part.

Superintendent of Police Godfred Obeng Asare commanded the parade and the Police Regimental Band from Winneba provided music alongside a cultural display performed by the Ghana National College.

"Without a high sense of  national unity, we cannot transform the fortunes of the country as desired..this calls for discipline, hard work and selflessness, " he noted.

Mr. Quansah urged Ghanaians to use the occasion to take stock whether the country had lived to the vision of its founding fathers.
